We can’t believe this was three years ago already! Seems only yesterday we were on the A120 delivering rapid concrete bay replacements.

LMS Highways are approaching their 5th year of delivering concrete repairs across the country and a lot has changed in this time. From amalgamating LMS Civil Solutions Ltd and LMS Highways Ltd due to the huge demand in our package work, to our continuously refined processes which ensures we keep delivering the highest standard and quality of rapid bay replacements.

Throughout the past 12 months the LMS crews have been working across the UK and Wales delivering concrete bay replacements in a variety of situations from the A449 in Wales, where an aircraft had damaged the carriageway to Rochester Kent, where a live distribution centre was suffering from failing concrete in their loading bays. All these experiences led us to one of our largest projects to date which took place on the M20 in Kent, where works had to be done to repair deteriorating sections of the existing concrete carriageway in preparation for “Brexit Operation Stack”.

Operation Stack is a procedure used by Kent police and the Port of Dover to park or “stack” lorries on the M20 motorway in Kent when services across the English Channel are disrupted, for example by bad weather, industrial action, fire or derailments in the tunnel or in this instance the uncertainty of Brexit.

During our time on the M20, the team removed and reinstating an approximate 19 tonnes of concrete per day, totaling roughly 1,600 tonnes in the 12 weeks we were on site. At the rate LMS were working it would equate to around 7,000 tonnes in just 12 months!
