LMS Highways are among the first tier two contractor in the highways sector to achieve PAS 2080:2023
In January of 2024 LMS Highways completed their BSI audit and in April were proudly awarded their PAS 2080 accreditation for Carbon Management in Buildings and Infrastructure, verified and certified by BSI, the business improvement and standards company.
PAS 2080 guides the management of carbon across the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure. The PAS supports the transition to a net zero carbon economy by 2050 and requires close collaboration across value chain members.
This accreditation follows National Highways ambitious carbon plan announced in 2021 that will see it rapidly cut carbon from road construction, maintenance and operations. Contractors and suppliers will be required to act by making commitments to reduce carbon year-on-year by using the latest technologies, so that by 2040 all road maintenance and construction carried out on the Strategic Road Network will be net-zero.
The standard recognises that LMS Highways has:
- Strategies in place to reduce carbon
- Making an important contribution to tackling climate change
Paul Winter, LMS Highways Director had the following comments on the new accreditation. – “I am incredibly proud to have achieved this accreditation ahead of most of the industry leading contractors, it’s such a testament to the amazing efforts of our team and our valued supply chain who’ve come along this journey with us.
This certification reflects our dedication to reducing carbon throughout our industry and support National Highways in achieving their goals to become net zero by 2040.”
