Our joint repair crew recently spent three nights delivering several full depth bridge joint repairs to a carriageway in Plymouth, Devon.
Asphaltic Plug Joints (APS’) are the refurbishment of existing bridge joints. Recently we showcased some Imprinted Surfacing completed by our crews which received a few questions, so lets answer in more detail.
What is Imprinted Surfacing?
It’s a fantastic zero maintenance alternative to block paving which can be used in a multitude of areas such as, roads, pavements and driveways. Imprinted surfacing has a multitude of benefits with its aesthetically pleasing presence really complimenting the underlying brilliance of this product.
Whilst most the country is in lock down and many places remain closed, LMS Highways crews have been making use of the empty roads and car parks.
For many businesses having a car park lined or line markings refreshed can be a challenging task due to the inability to completely close off these areas to customers and staff. Usually this means our crews have to work around cars, cordoning off areas at a time. This can become quite timely and sometimes affect their ability to complete the job that day.
Social distancing safety markings look like they will be needed for quite a while yet. At the beginning of this pandemic, quick fix temporary tape and markings with spray paint were needed to keep everyone safe and hats off to everyone that’s done it.
However, we need to look at the fact that Covid-19 could be around for the next 6 – 18 months, so we need something that will last, look good and demonstrate that your business is taking this seriously.
These preformed safety markings were laid today by one of our crews (whilst maintaining social distancing). Preformed markings are great because not only are they visually pleasing they also have the following benefits:
- Hard-wearing and therefore long lasting
- Highly visible
- Customisable to your business
Have a look at the Government guidelines and if you would like to discuss what safety markings would be suitable for your business, give Rob or Leon a call on 01626 331 771.

Using white and yellow thermoplastic the team remarked approximately 300 parking bays and implemented a variety of additional line marking in order to create a safe, usable and more accessible space for vehicles.
